The Otterbury IncidentIt all started when Nick broke the classroom window with his football.

And who could blame him? Ted's company were all so excited about their victory over Toppy's company that something was bound to happen. But when the Headmaster said Nick would have to pay for the damage, things started looking serious: Nick had no more hope of raising the money in a week than of going to the Moon. That's when Ted's and Toppy's companies decided to sign a truce and plan Operation Glazier to get the money for Nick. The plan went smoothly and soon the money had been collected. But that's just the beginning of the story. It's what happened after that that makes exciting - and surprising - reading.

Despite the author's clear ignorance of the 'working-class' vernacular, this is a splendid, 'old-fashioned' (in the best sense of the words) book.
