The austere post-war years are recalled - the fashions, the shops, streets and traffic. Notable or bizarre incidents are recalled - the V2 rocket passing through, the Haddenham whirlwind, Englebert Humperdinck mobbed by girls, the Great Train Robbers, the Aylesbury rat catchers.

The quickening pace of the 1960s is strongly shown - the motor car, the new traffic schemes and office blocks.
